RUT

Back again!  I've been in a rut for the last few weeks.  Must be the after effects of winter.  But just like the trees in my garden, I can feel new life stirring.  Shoots and blossoms are starting to appear.
And I have just discovered this amazing artist (feeling so inspired now), Jazmin Velasco.  Please do yourself the old favour and check out her inspiring blog  here.

How do you get out of your artistic rut?
For me it feels like your muse has run away with the artist next door and that you will never ever create anything worthwhile again.
Miss C who is 8, is already experiencing these artistic cycles.  She was in tears the other day, having an artistic rage, crying that 'it' had all gone and that she would never draw again!!
But her little muse came back, bursting through the door, presents galore, all was forgiven!!

Must go and create

Fathers' Day

Today in Australia is Fathers' Day.  Mr P was woken at 7am by Miss C with kisses and schoolmade goodness, a tomato plant and cup of tea.
And of course this love fest caused me to burst out into tears of remembrance for My Dad who passed away 8years ago when Miss C was only 4mths old.   Dad suffered from an incurable leukemia but fought the brave fight so he could see and spend some time with his first (much wanted, much loved) grandchild.
Also today, our much loved ancient apricot tree, (the one dad planted many moons ago), the one that is only standing because it is stubborn (a trait my Dad and I both share), blossomed!

So, today if you still have your Dad (or your father figure) in this world, give him a hug and feel the love, plant a tree, or tell each other secrets.

If your Dad is in another world, light a candle, blow him a kiss and make a wish.

'remember the face of your father' (a line taken from a Stephen King book-the Dark Tower Series).

So HAPPY FATHERS' DAY  all you wonderful men out there!

Seraphine Soul Stories

Séraphine Louis, known as "Séraphine de Senlis" ("Séraphine of Senlis") (1864–1942), was a French painter in the naïve style. Self-taught, she was inspired by her religious faith and by stained-glass church windows and other religious art. The intensity of her images, both in color and in replicative designs, are sometimes interpreted as a reflection of her own psyche, walking a tightrope between ecstasy and mental illness

Continuing on with Soul and Stories.  I have just watched an amazing movie 'Seraphine' (and Jen you can borrow it from the Gordon when I return it on Tuesday!)

Seraphine was a French 'outsider' 'naive' artist who spent her days cleaning and her nights painting by candlelight.
Her soul and stories are so beautiful!
'they are perhaps the most direct attempt at expression of a soul.'
You cannot seperate Seraphine and her creations.  She sings to them and so brings them forth and they sing to us the viewer; transporting us-we are in the presence of the divine.  If Heaven is this heart-breakingly beautiful I am going there!

Wrap your arms around a tree, feel the wind, talk to the insects and birds.  Light a candle and commune with your soul.

Sing and paint!

Soul and Stories

Mr P read my post on stories and his response was -'Every soul has a thousand page book shadow following them. Stories to fill a hundred libraries.  Make sure your book is not on the bottom shelf.'

"ROUBLERUST" commented in her profile that '...creating art saves my soul..'
My friend Ali commented that we told our stories in pictures before we wrote them.

So maybe our stories are imprinted on our souls, and by creating,  our soul is manifesting these stories into reality?  And what if our souls could walk between the worlds, our souls creating in other worlds/dimensions?  And souls from other worlds creating in our reality/world.
I have been manifesting 'Walkers between Worlds' in my monotypes lately.  And I have been wondering where they come from.  I will post some of these montypes  in the next couple of days.

And by the by...thanks for stopping by

Stories

I've been thinking about Stories lately.
Stories we tell about ourselves.
And by telling these stories do we create ourselves?
Can we create ourself anew by telling ourself a new/different story?
Could we dare recreate the world by re-imagining?

What do you think?  Do you have a story that has become YOU?  I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

And by the by..... thanks for stopping by!
